Nysha D. Operana

nysha-corneliusNysha Operana graduated from Hamline University School of Law, where she obtained her Juris Doctor and a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution in May 2013. Prior to attending law school, Nysha graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in American Ethnic Studies.

Nysha’s strong cultural ties to her Mexican heritage are what lead her to work in the field of immigration. Nysha handles employment, family and humanitarian-based immigration cases. She has placed a special focus on helping clients facing deportation and removal. Through this work, it became readily apparent that her work in immigration law touched heavily in the areas of family and criminal law. She proudly defends the rights of individuals in all three practice areas. Nysha’s experience has enabled her to provide powerful legal guidance in and out of the courtroom.

In addition to her employment at Paschal Nwokocha & Chukwu, Nysha volunteers and has worked pro bono with the Volunteer Lawyers Network of Minnesota (La Red de Abogados Voluntarios), Comunidades Latinas Unidas en Servicio (CLUES), the Mexican Consulate, the Battered Women’s Legal Advocacy Project, the Advocates for Human Rights and at the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota. Furthermore, she serves as the Chair for the Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA) Immigration section, Liaison for the American Immigration Lawyers Association New Members Division, and as the Hennepin County Bar Association Delegate for the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates.

Nysha Received the 2019 Volunteer of the Year award from the Volunteer Lawyers Network.

Nysha has additional legal experience in the areas of criminal law, family law and child advocacy.
