Any Hope for DACA?

Does anyone really believe that there will be Immigration deal by this Congress and President Trump before the recently passed Continued Resolution expires on February 8, 2018? Don’t hold your breath; swing into action!

DACA legislation is one bill that all the key actors proclaim they support. But do they have the spine to see it through? The reality is that we have a President that ran his election campaign based on anti-immigrant platform; who did not need to cancel DACA in September 2016 until a solution was in place, but went ahead and did that; a president whose chief counselors do not support DACA but falsely believe that DREAMers take jobs from Americans. We have a president surrounded by individuals who believe that a DACA deal should be an avenue to revamp the U.S. immigration laws to suit their long-held views.

On the other hand, we have Legislative branch that has abdicated its role, but instead wanted to know what the anti-immigrant president wants before it passed legislation. We have leadership in the House of Representative who believe that a DACA vote may jeopardize their majority.

The only way DACA gets codified is if enough pressure in brought to bear on Congress and the President. Please contact your congressional representative and demand quick action on immigration to protect DREAMers. Left to congress and the President, nothing meaningful will happen.
