Lauren Lowry earned her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2022, following a Bachelor of Arts in Business from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, where she studied Marketing, Entrepreneurial Management, and Spanish. Lauren specializes in client-centered representation in immigration law, with particular focus on removal defense, asylum, adjustment of status, family-based petitions, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, BIA appeals, and some federal habeas matters.
Lauren’s commitment to immigrants’ rights took root in college, where she volunteered extensively with immigrant communities while completing a Spanish minor. Her coursework in Latin American studies and her volunteer work with the immigrant community deepened her understanding of why people are forced to leave their home countries and the challenges they face starting over somewhere new. Those experiences left her with a lasting sense of responsibility to advocate for immigrants navigating the U.S. legal system.
Before joining Nwokocha & Operana Law Offices, Lauren spent several years in private practice handling complex removal defense and appellate matters, as well as family-based and naturalization cases. During her time at the University of Minnesota Law School, Lauren was President of the Minnesota Justice Foundation and served as a Student Director of the Federal Immigration Litigation Clinic, where she worked with a group of students and professors to draft and file a Petition for a Writ of Certiorari to the Supreme Court of the United States.
Lauren often gives Immigration 101 presentations to churches and other community organizations to educate others about the challenges of the U.S. immigration system.
